In 2020, the City of Woodbury came to the realization that they had never financially planned for the care and maintenance of our park and trail system. So a new fund was created with expiring debt levy and an increase in our property taxes to give the new fund a balance.

Two Major Problems with this:

  • According to the city's website, the average homeowner has been paying $152/year for the parks, trails and recreation in Woodbury.

  • According the the City's budget documents, the Parks and Forestry budget in the General Fund has been paying for playground equipment, trails and sidewalks, parking lots, groundskeeping, etc.

  • The money that the taxpayers had previously paid for parks and trails did NOT go into the new Parks/Trails fund. Instead, our tax money remained in the General Fund.
