PARKS AND TRAILS FUND
In 2020, the City of Woodbury came to the realization that they had never financially planned for the care and maintenance of our park and trail system. So a new fund was created with expiring debt levy and an increase in our property taxes to give the new fund a balance.
Two Major Problems with this:
According to the city's website, the average homeowner has been paying $152/year for the parks, trails and recreation in Woodbury.
According the the City's budget documents, the Parks and Forestry budget in the General Fund has been paying for playground equipment, trails and sidewalks, parking lots, groundskeeping, etc.
The money that the taxpayers had previously paid for parks and trails did NOT go into the new Parks/Trails fund. Instead, our tax money remained in the General Fund.
